| 2 cops among 5 hurt as miscreants create trouble at power project site | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, Feb 11: Five persons, including two cops, were today injured after some miscreants stoned labourers engaged in the making of an approach road for hydel project to be constructed by GVL Ltd on the bank of Chenab river.
The miscreants, including activists of different political parties and criminals, assembled outside the office of GVK Ltd here and started creating trouble. They also threatened the company employees.
After protesting for over 3 hours outside the office of GVK, the trouble makers stoned the labourers who were engaged by the company to construct a road to the project site.
Two cops and three labourers were injured in the incident. The machinery of a contractor was also damaged.
Police sources said the contractor had been engaged by the company to construct the road.
The injured were hospitalised. The miscreants were later chased away and the situation was brought uner control by the cops led by SSP Bhim Sen Tutti.
On the basis of the complaints lodged by the company and the contractor, police registered a case against the protesters and launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.
The locals have demanded a stern action against the miscreants so that the project was completed on time. |
