NC-Cong coalition on edge, trust deficit at its peak | Cong 'angry'……, NC feels 'humiliated', fissures deepen | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 11: Post Peerzada resignation development that was swiftly followed by 'non acceptance' by the party high command, the NC-Congress coalition is on the edge and the already existing fissures have only deepened and widened between the allies. While NC and Chief Minister who despite being head of the Council of ministers was 'deliberately' sidelined by Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed by directing his resignation to party president and the latter not accepting it, finds his prestige having been lowered, Congress camp too is not comfortable with all what is going on.. The trust deficit within both the alliance partners has reached its peak with some leaders have reached Delhi to present their 'version' of the story and the present plight of discomfiture with NC. Sources said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who was in New Delhi on Friday held rounds of meetings with J&K PCC Chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz and a couple of meetings with the former Chief Minister and Union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad besides other leaders of AICC whose say matters in J&K affairs to discuss the Peerzada issue and other matters pertaining to Congress ministers but could not 'garner' positive response on the lines he expected. He was conveyed by all that these were the matters for Congress to decide and NC as partner cannot 'call the shots nor dictate terms.' sources said adding that Omar also tried to seek an appointment with UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi but on this front did not succeed. What has put him in much 'awkward' and humiliating position is that Peerzada's resignation has not been accepted as minister and it is only under the circumstances he has been divested of Education portfolio, a move which CM quickly followed upon directions from New Delhi late last night, sources said. Congress circles however attribute it to gross mishandling of the issue by the Chief Minister himself due to his 'inexperience and incompetence'. What has however angered the Congress further are the reports of NC at this juncture trying to convey to party leadership that it wanted Congress to give support from outside with this contention that in given situation of corruption charges, coupled with Peerzada case and other host of issues Congress had become a liability and that under the circumstances NC is not in a position to carry the administration in good and desirous spirit.Sources said both father son duo have tried to convey it to leadership of Congress that he developments related to their party are impinging the concept of good and clean governance. However, this argument has not gone well with the Congress which sees it as a 'ploy' to weaken the party in the state. Congress on the contrary has put its foot down and conveyed that party has bigger stakes in the entire state and if NC is trying to make any ground level for alternative courses , Congress too had its options 'ready'. |
