3-day painters' camp concludes at Kala Kendra | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 12: A 3-day Painters Camp organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts, Jammu concluded at Kala Kendra, Jammu here today. At the valedictory function, Prof. Laxmi Kanta Chawla, Cabinet Minister, Punjab was the chief guest. Mohd. Yousaf Taing, MLC and Jagdish Parihar, Additional Advocate General were the guests of honour. In her address, Prof. Laxmi Kanta Chawla highlighted the role of writers, artists to understand and reflect the pains of the sufferers as was depicted in some painting. She said that the actions may not be able to convey what a painting might convey thousands of emotive thought at a time. She said that artists and writers are the mirror of the society and highlight their inner voice. Mohd. Yousaf Taing and Jagdish Parihar also spoke on this occasion, and appreciated the role of the centre in promoting art and culture. Mohd. Yousaf Taing announced Rs. one lakh in favour of JKCCA for promoting art and culture. O. P. Sharma, Director, JKCCA in his address emphasized on the achievements of the centre has since its inception during 2001. He told that the centre has organized a number of art camps during this period adding that the centre is committed to promote art, literature and culture in the State with missionary zeal. Soujanya Sharma, Joint Director Information and Tilok Kaul, Eminent artist of the state, N. D. Jamwal, Gokal Dambi, Jang S. Verma, Bhushan Kesar and other prominent artists of Jammu, Kashmir, Jaipur, New Delhi and Amritsar were present on the occasion. |
