| Folk theatre fest concludes | | | JAMMU | JAN 17 The folk theatre festival which started on Jan 15 concluded here today with the performance of various artists on Chiry, Jaatar and Dogra wedding ceremony. On this occasion legendary Dogri folk artist, Jenab Ghulam Mohd. was the chief guest, whereas Dr. Rafeeq Masoudi, secretary cultural academy was the guest of honor. Paper reading on ‘Chiry’ was done by ND Jamwal. While briefing the audience with Chiry he said that it is a form of celebration in which songs are sung and satires in the form of ‘Lok natak’ are rendered by people off specification caste on special occasion. Speaking about, “Jaatar” Dhian Singh said that it still prevalent and cab be witnessed in two forms. In first case it have a spiritual touch, the performer of Jaatar gets spiritual touch and he forecasts the happenings in the life of worshippers and at the same time he also alleviates them from past wrong doings. On the occasion, colourful presentation of Dogra wedding ceremony was given by Duggar Kala Manch” from Sunder Bani. A part from Satwari as well as Garoo Ram and party from Borh Draink. Meanwhile, artists of Kewal Vedak and party presented Chiry. Also ‘Bhagtan’, which is a form of ‘Lok natak’ was presented by Bhagtia theatre group.
