'Govt must order arrest of Sheikh Bashir, Peerzada'
NSF demands probe into BOSE irregularities
2/13/2012 12:06:14 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 12: National Secular Forum (NSF) today alleged that J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) has been turned as a hub of corruption by the officials sitting at its helm of affairs especially, Chairman Dr Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and the Minister Peerzada Mohd Sayeed. Even, the Crime Branch has established the same. But, till date no FIR has been lodged in the sensational revelation. Govern-ment should have removed Sheikh Bashir from the position and put behind the bars but unfortunately that has not happened.
Addressing a press conference, NSF president Vikas Sharma said "all the limits have been crossed. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is required to set up an inquiry commission to unearth the bungling in the Board at the earliest."
There are several cases of irregularities pending against the name of BOSE Chairman and to restore the faith of students and their parents his arrest is needed, he further said.
He disclosed that Dr Sheikh Bashir Ahmed had also given undue favour to his close ones a year and half ago. That incident is also required to be probed. Citing the incident, he said "A meeting of Review/ Appealate Committee of Unfair mean cases was held on June 23, 2010. Exercising his self styled authority he exonerated one case of Unfair Mean Case which had no merit for mercy."
In that case, student (Roll No. 504418) was taking examination in the examination centre No 504/SSE where his father namely Adbul Wahab (Headmaster at Government High School Warnow Lalab) was deplo-yed as Examination Inspe-ctor. He aided and abetted his son in the examination, which was a clear cut case of Unfair Mean Case. The Unfair Mean Case Committee had proved and established that Wahab has aided and abetted his son. Accordingly, the examination of student was cancelled. The appellate committee upheld the decision and recommended punishment against the inspection team that included father of the said student.
But, later Dr Sheikh Bashir Ahmed drastically reversed the decision of appellate authority. He exonerated the student and asked for immediate declaration of result. Surpris-ingly, he also exonerated the inspection team. He did this at the instance of political boss. He didn't even bothered to get the approval of Chairman.
NSF threatened to launch agitation if no police action is taken against the BOSE Chairman and the Minister.
