| J-K Power Development Dept to launch e-procurement on Feb 13 | | | early times report
Jammu, Feb 12: Jammu and Kashmir government's Power Development Depar-tment is all set to launch procurement of material through e-tendering. Procu-rement & Material Manag-ement Wing of PDD is all set to launch e-procurement of material through e-tendering in P& MM Wing of PDD on 13th of February, officials said. The e-procurement system will be used for procurement of both goods as well as services including turnkey contracts. Out of three wings which are involved in procurement, the e-procurement is being launched in P& MM Wing as this Wing being the largest in the Power Development Department (viz-a-viz procurement of material), they said. The e-procurement shall be extended to other two wings as well by April I, 2012. The e-procurement shall be made compulsory in all the procurement wings of the department. The current ceiling for e-procurement is fixed for the contract value exceeding Rs 25 lakhs. However, from April Ist, 2012 it is proposed to be reduced to Rs 5 lakhs and above. The e-procurement shall facilitate the bidders to access the whole tendering process on line and shall encourage maximum participation, competition and better terms. It offers equal opportunity to all potential suppliers to submit their offers.
