| Career counselling session on UGC -Net organized at MIER | | | EARLY TIMES report
Jammu, Feb 13: The Guidance and Counselling committee of MIER College of Education organized a career counseling session on the topic "UGC-NET: A measure to maintain quality in Teaching & Research". The resource person for the session was Nishta Rana, Lecturer, MIER College of Education. Renu Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education was the guest of honour. Annie Koul, HOD B. Ed Department and Angela Gadroo QAO, MIER College Of Education also graced the occasion.
The programme was attended by all the faculty members and students of the B. Ed department. The speaker. Nishta Rana, elaborated upon career focus with special emphasis on NET/JRF examinations. She acquainted the audience about the parameters of higher education and advised the teacher trainees to set clear-cut objectives and channelize their energies for fulfillment of their goals.
She oriented the students regarding the best way to prepare for NET/JRF examination, which is a pre-requisite for lecturership. She gave the students some valuable tips for approaching the papers and maximum utilization of time limit. She also suggested some good resources and books, which would go a long way in helping them clear their examinations.
An interactive session followed in which the students posed their queries and clarified their doubts. Convener of Alumni Committtee, Shashi Koul also interacted with the students and acquainted them about importance of higher studies in helping them for appropriate placements and settlement in good professions. Sakshi Mahajan, Convener Guidance and Counseling committee conducted the programme and presented a formal vote of thanks. |
