| Gujjars snub self style leader, ask community to boycott | | | EARLY TIMES report
Jammu, Feb 13:Almost all major organisations of Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir today stated that Ayoob Kataria, President of newly constituted Pahari-Gujjar United Front is a non entity among community as he neither represent the tribe nor any of its sect. They jointly disowned and rebuffed his statement issued in a press conference held at press club Jammu on Friday on 10th of February appearing in some section of press and media on 11th wherein he (Kataria) on behalf of Gujjars supported the demand of Pahari speaking people for grant of ST status. A joint statement was issued after a meeting of six main bodies representing different shades of Gujjars and Bakerwals in the state held here in which representatives of Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation, J&K Gujjars United Forum, J&K Tribal United Forum, State unit of Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Parishad , Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar Bakerwal United Forum, J&K Scheduled tribe Employees organisation participated. They jointly snubbed Kataria for his anti community stance and advised him to stay away from sensitive issues like granting of ST status to Pahari speaking people.
The leaders of various organization of Gujjars also appealed the whole community to strictly adhere social boycott with such self styled leaders for their anti community activities and identify black sheep of community and isolate them. "I don't know who is he (Ayoob Kataria ) ? said Javaid Rahi , Secretary , Tribal Foundation a frontal organisation of J&K Gujjars ."I even not heard his name among community as leader or worker in social , political , cultural or any other circle during last two decades of my study on Gujjar- Bakerwal community, Rahi said. He should avoid such controversies, said. Rahi The organisations today strongly objected over the misinformation campaign launched against Gujjars by some self styled organizations run by non-Gujjar politicians of Poonch and Rajouri districts.
They said that community will give a befitting reply to this misinformation campaign . Gujjar organizations also appealed print and electronic media to help the community in identifying sponsored leaders like Kataria such elements who are working against the interest of Gujjar community in the State. Those who attended the meeting include Mohammd Anwar President Gujjars United Front, Javaid Rahi Secreatry Tribal Foundation, Roshan Din President Tribal United Front, Haji Shamsheer Ali Bokan President GBUF, Ishaq Rehman Poswal Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Parishid, Mohammd Yusuf Dedhad ST Employees forum and others |
