GBH girls Jammu celebrates Annual Day function

Jammu, Feb 13: Vice Chairman, Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjr Bakerwal Ch. Bashir Ahmad Naaz has said that two hostels would be established in Jammu and Srinagar Cities for Post Graduate students of Gujjar Bakerwal community for which land has been identified and the concerned agencies have been asked to prepare DPRs adding that that the work on these hostels would be taken in hand during next financial year. This was stated by the Vice Chairman at an annual Day function organized by the Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel (GBH) Jammu here today. Naaz said that 16 Gujjar and Bakerwal hostels including 3 girls hostels are presently functional in the State and over 1400 students of Gujjar and Bakerwal community are studying in these hostels. He said 5 Gujjar Bakerwal Hostels have also been sanctioned in the State and the construction work on these hostels would be completed in next year.
He said coalition government is taking keen interest in improving the living standard of this community adding that in future the boys, girl's hostels for Gujjar and Bakerwal would be opened at block levels in the State. He said the centre is providing 100 per cent funding for Girls Hostels and 50 per cent for Boys Hostels. He said 50 per cent funds are being provided by the State government for Boys Hostels adding that the coalition government is committed to provide every basic facility to these hostels besides quality education on modern lines. He appealed the students to ascertain education as education is the key to success and over all development of the State. The Vice Chairman congratulated the school management for organizing scintillating cultural programme on the occasion by the students of the hostel and announced Rs.10,000 as token money for the participants.
Responding the demands put forth by the Hostel Management, Mr. Naaz assured them that additional block for the hostels would be considered on priority. He also assured them that the funds would be released for other activities like sports, culture and debates from next financial year.
