'GCW Parade' organizes environment awareness prog | | | EARLY TIMES report Jammu, Feb 13: Govt College for Women Parade Ground Jammu under the banner of its 'Nature Club' organized a visit to village Jhiri, Kanha Chak in collaboration with WWF India, J&K under the scheme of NEAC 2012 -"Forests for sustainable Livelihood.' College spokesperson stated that about 45 students participated in the programme of visit to the Sacred Grovwe, Jhiri and prepared a bio-diversity documentation register. "The students also studied the pond in the area used by the pilgrims and educated the local public for its survival and restoration. The students also visited the Govt. Higher Secondary School, Jhiri and made students aware about the local biodiversity and significance of its conservation, spokesperson said. Earlier Principal of the College, Dr Kiran Bakshi while flagging off this excursion said that the cleaning of natural water bodies in and around Jammu and conversing the biodiversity should be our prerogative and all efforts should be made in this direction for a better future. Dr Prayga Khanna, Head, Dept of Zoology the organizing Secretary of the program, Dr Chander Shekar and Dr Yash Paul of the Deptt of Zoology and Botany respectively helped the students in the said study. |
