JWAM threatens to observe Jammu Bandh against water tariff hike

Jammu, Feb 13: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) has threatened to observe Jammu Bandh to intensify the on going agitation against the hike in water tariff, decision to install meters on the water connections and unscheduled power cuts.
As part of the ongoing stir, the JWAM held a massive protest held today inspite of heavy rain and bad weather against the coalition Govt, PHE ministry and regulatory commission for increasing the water tariff.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple president JWAM demanded chief minister Omar Abdullah led coalition Govt that the water should be provided " totally Free Of Cost" to the people of the Jammu and Kashmir State . There should be "No charges and No Rent" for water in the state.
He warned the coalition Govt and the PHE Ministry and asked to "clear its stand" keeping in view the growing "unrest" among the people as well as all the political, traders and social organizations of the state against the PHE Ministry's unilateral decision to increase the water tariff.
