Cong eyeing for re-allocation of portfolios after cabinet expansion? | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 13: Follo-wing save Peerzada Mohd Syeed act by the AICC Chief, Sonia Gandhi, leaders owing loyalty to the camp headed by the PCC Chief, Saif-ud-Din Soz, have decided to mount pressure on the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to re-allot the portfolios of Education and PWD to the Congress ministers. During the last over one year neither the loyalists nor the dissidents pressed for reallocating the portfolio of Public Works, which was held by G M Saroori before his exit from the cabinet, to some Congress minister. The portfolio of PWD has been held by the Chief Minister. Encouraged by the congress silence Omar Abdullah kept the portfolio of Education with him even after the Congress high command rejected Peerzada's resignation. This has, according to senior party leaders irked the congress and loyalists have decided to raise the issue before Sonia Gandhi. They want the portfolio of Education given to some other Congress minister in case the Chief Minister was not in favour of allocating School education to Peerzada. Party circles said that the issue is likely to be finalised during the proposed cabinet reshuffle and expansion. Reports said that the Chief Minister is not in favour of reshuffling and expansion of the council of ministers before the end of the ensuing budget session of the state legislature. "But it depends on the decision of the Congress high command which has asked the party unit to remain united and ensure that the three-year old political arrangement was not destabilised or disturbed, sources said. Meanwhile according to sources Peerzada may get some of the departments held by Tara Chand or by Taj Mohiuddin and the one of the two who loses some departments may get the portfolio of education. These reports said that the PWD portfolio would be allocated to a congress minister after the cabinet reshuffle. |
