All round development of periphery pockets govt's top priority: Bhalla | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 14: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said that all round development of periphery pockets is top priority of the Government adding that focused attention was paid by the Government for socio-economic upliftment of down trodden and backward people across the State during last 3 years regime. The Minister said this while interacting with the locals during his visit to Model Town in Gangyal and Apna Vihar Extension here today where he kick started Rs. 17 lakh development works in the above said areas. Bhalla said Government has taken various exemplary initiatives to develop development neglected areas by providing all basic amenities like safe drinking water, electricity, healthcare, education, road connectivity besides better lanes and drains at par with city centers. The Minister asked the habitual land encroachers to budge adding that the Government has constituted a special squad for vacation of state land from illegal occupants and the help of Police department would also be taken to deal with those who would create problems in the government's drive. He said henceforth the Government land would be used for building social infrastructure, including construction of offices, tube wells, roads, schools, parks, parking slots, cremation grounds etc. He asked the land grabbers to vacate State land voluntarily, otherwise be ready to face action.Bhalla said "It is the duty of every citizen to cooperate with the Government in making the Jammu and Kashmir a model State" adding that several mega projects formulated for the benefit of general masses across the State are in pipeline. The Minister also took stock of people's developmental needs and their problems, issued on-the-spot instructions to concerned for taking appropriate action in their developmental needs. Responding to the demands of Dashmash Nagar people, the Minister asked the R&B to prepare estimates for upgradation of dilapidated condition road, construction of lanes and drains besides additional rooms at Government Girls High School Digiana camp and submit the same for funding so that the projects could be started. Later, Bhalla also attended a function organized by Vichar Kranti Manch (VKM) on 'social spirituals' at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar where he was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the efforts of Non-Governmental Organisation (VKM) in adopting ten schools of his home constituency for providing ethical and moral values to the students by arranging camps in the schools. He asked the teachers to lay stress on imbibing moral values among the students to help them become responsible citizens of the country. |
