NCP to contest municipal polls on its own

Jammu, Feb 14: Announcing this after working committee meeting of the party held here today , the state NCP President of Jammu and Kashmir and Former Minister Thakur Randhir singh while addressing to the press said that two provincial committees have been constituted ,Jammu province committee will be headed by Kamal Gupta sr vice president NCP with ten members and Kashmir province will be headed by J A Khan vice president NCP with ten members for selection of the candidates for Jammu and Kashmir for the Municipal elections in the state.The two committees will invite applications , scrutinize and will put up the panels to the state president before March 1. Singh said educated youth, women, SC/ST political activists with clean image and track record of service to people will be the criteria for providing party mandate to the candidates.Singh expressed his concern that good governance, development, welfare of people, should have been main agenda of the govt of J&K which has undergone a period of turmoil during the past two decades but formally this has been put on back burner. A veteran leader Singh who was grounded as a senior cabinet minister under GM Bakshi and G M Sadiq said that the daily phenomenon of allegations and counter allegations is going on for last so many years in the ruling coalition in the state. He stressed the need for constituting a high level enquiry commission headed by a Supreme Court judge to enquire into all the allegations so that the truth comes out and guilty get a severe punishment. NCP Chief Singh added that this is a very urgent to restore the confidence of a common man particularly the educated and technically qualified youth on the political system. Singh also demanded attitudinal change among all the stakeholders for the empowerment of Panchayats. State NCP announced under the directions of National NCP President Sharad Pawar, Union Agriculture Minister a committee on "Panchayati Raj and Local Bodies" has been set up in J&K under the chairmanship of Balbir Singh Jamwal a renowned horticulture technocrat and prominent student leader in his student career which will work for strengthening of Panchayati Raj and local bodies institution in line with 73rd and 74th constitution amendment. Many senior activists from various political parties joined NCP Jai Krishan Parihar, Shanti prakash Shan ,Rajinder Padha, Capt Prakash Singh,Om Prakash, Shashi Kumar, Balbir Singh Jamwal with their hundred followers. The state NCP assured the leaders who joined NCP that their services will be utilized properly to strengthen the NCP in the state under the leadership of Sharad Pawar who is one of the most senior national leader. The meeting was attended by all working committee members Kamal Gupta, J A Khan, RS Billow aria, ShamSingh, Amrit Sagar, Gulab Chand Bhagat, Bansi Lal Sodhi,Onkar Singh, Ashok Singh, R S Katoch , Sewa Ram Parihar, Moulana Mohd Younis, G M Pal, P D Shastri, Col Amar Singh, Bodh Raj Salaria , Chairmen all Frontal Organisations of the NCP .
