25 patients from state referred to PGI Chandigarh for specialized treatments | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 14: Yogesh Sawhney former minister and OSD to President PGI ME&R Chandigarh has referred the victim of Doda accident to PGI Chandigarh for specialized treatment. The condition of Riaz Ahmad Khan of Bhalessa, Doda who was seriously injuried in recent road accident was deteriorating after which Sawhney in consultation with senior doctors referred him to PGI Chandigarh. Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had appointed Sawhney as OSD to PGI ME & Chandigarh for extending specialized treatments to patients of Jammu and Kashmir State and in this endeavour so far now over 25 patients have been referred from different parts of the state of Jammu and Kashmir to PGI Chandigarh for specialized treatments. Cases of neurological disorder acute leukemia bone marrow, Chemotherapy, Ophthalmology, Kidney transplant, orthopedic surgeries, gallbladder surgery, brain hemorrhage and other chronic cases have so far have been referred to PGI Chandigarh. Sawhney OSD to the President PGI & ME & R has established an office at 3 New Rehari Colony Jammu and can be contacted at 0191-2573611. Sawhney will be shuttling between Jammu and Chandigarh to inquire about the health of patients reffered there Azad by appointing Sawhney as OSD ensured that patients also seek benefits of various centrally sponsored schemes. People of Jammu and Kashmir State as well as those from rest of north India especially those living in Below Poverty Line (BPL) or falling under low income group can avail medical treatments at PGI Chandigarh under schemes like Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi where patients suffering from Cancer, Kidney failure, Liver failure, heart or related surgeries and other chronic diseases are provided with specialized treatments for which financial assistance is provided by union health ministry. |
