AIIMS EMS discusses emergency services | | | Early Times Report New Delhi, Feb 13: The 'Emergency Medical Systems' (EMS) 2012 attended by 1300 delegates from 27 countries, 51 speakers of which 41 were international speakers, 4 Supreme court sitting judges, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Chief Minister of J & K Omar Abdullah, there was creation of Emergency Medical Systems leaders forum, release of Hospital Infection Control Guidelines Book by CM J&K, release of Emergency Medical Services declaration during valedictory function, finalization of Indo German Collaborative Research Project on Ambulance Design and Dr. Shakti Gupta appointed as the Chairman of the National Ambulance Code Committee to formulate the National Ambulance Code within 2 months. The ball was set rolling by three Supreme Court Judges including Justice T.S. Thakur, Justice C. K. Prasad and Justice Dipak Misra in the pre-conference speakers meeting Omar had inaugurated the conference. All of them emphasized on having proper emergency systems in place in the country. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will shortly put in place the "National Ambulance Code" to rationalize the Ambulance specifications in India and to ensure quality pre-inter-hospital transfer of patients. A Committee has been constituted by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Shakti K. Gupta, HoD, Hospital Administration of AIIMS and comprising of experts from AIIMS, ARAI and other relevant agencies, Ministries and Departments, to finalize the draft code in this regard. |
