NC-Cong coalition has institutionalized corruption: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES report Jammu, Feb 14: Expressing concern over the National Conference-Congress coalition government having gone into a limbo, Bhartiya Janta Party has alleged that most of the time and energy of the government is being taken up dealing with scams and scandals, whether it is 'Exam Gate' involving State Education Minister or Yousaf Shah's mysterious death implicating State Chief Minister. BJP chief spokesman Jitendra Singh said that the NC led Congress supported government has totally lost its initiative to act and there is virtual absence of governance. He said scam after scam are remaining unresolved and instead of acting against proven cases of corruption, there is a shameless attempt for cover up with the NC and Congress scratching each other's back to ensure their mutual survival in power. Singh said that it is an irony that on the one hand the Chief Minister talks of transparency and accountability, while on the other hand, the tainted ministers and bureaucrats are rewarded with lucrative portfolios and postings. The state institutions like State Accountability Commission (SAC) and State Vigilance Organization (SVO) have been rendered defunct and instead corruption itself has got institutionalized, which is a unique though dubious distinction for the state. He said that infighting within the ruling coalition partners has further negatively affected the performance of the government and most of the time by the ministers of NC and Congress is spent in paying obeisance to their respective party high commands which are family controlled and devoid of inner party democracy. Raising question mark on Congress party, Singh said it is for Central High Command of the party to answer whether the NC Chief Minister supported by it, is free to take decisions on his own or is constrained to follow diktats from 10-Janpath to ensure his survival in office. |
