Court awards imprisonment | | | early times report Jammu, Feb 14: 3rd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu today awarded six and half year imprisonment to Gurnam @ Gama Masih r/o Batala District Gurdas-pur, Punjab at present New Plot Jammu who obtained appointment in Chief Minister's Secretariat as Sweeper on fake permanent resident Certificate issued by Deputy Commissioner Kathua on December 21, 1997. 3rd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Sanjay Parihar awarded sentence u/s 471 RPC for a period of three years and fine Rs 3000/-, u/s 420 RPC he is sentenced to undergo imprisonment for two years and fine Rs 2000/- and u/s 201 RPC he is sentenced to undergo imprisonment of one year and six months and fine Rs 1000/-. Court further clarified that all sentences shall run concurrently. The court after hearing Additional Public Prose-cutor GS Charak for the state whereas Adv Rohit Lega for the accused person observed accused having dishonestly caused wrongful loss to the state exchequer and obtained appointment and went received salary as consequence derived wrongful monthly gain u/s 420/201 RPC and awarded sentence. According to case Ravi Kumar lodged complaint with the Crime Branch that accused Gurnam Singh had obtained fake permanent resident certificate issued by Deputy Commissioner Kat-hua under File No 1318/ PRC/1977 dated Dec-ember 31, 1977 and succeeded in obtaining appointment in Chief Minister's Secretariat as sweeper. During verification it was found that no such PRC has been issued from the office of Deputy Commissioner Kathua, thus was fake one. On the enquiry case u/s 420/467/ 468/471 RPC was registered under FIR No 45/2005 and after completion of investigation challan was presented in the Court. (JNF) |
