'Premature retirement' welcome step but deficient in prevailing system' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: People Action and Public Accountability (PAPA) Jammu and Kashmir Chapter today said the recent decision of state government regarding premature retirement of some corrupt or shady officers/officials is a welcome step but can't be appreciated at large as it is quite insufficient in the prevailing circumstances. "Almost three years back, it was disclosed by the govt that an exercise is being done to prepare a list of its corrupt officers/officials for premature retirement but it seems that an intention delay was made by the political personalities at the helm of affairs just to save their favorites in state administration in view of their retirement under rules, PAPA spokesperson said in a statement issued today. The statement said that another aspect in context of above said issue is quite painful when ministerial level corruption is being openly ignored without caring the sentiments of the masses while the prosecution sanctions are deliberately being rejected or delayed by the ruling politicians to the vigilance organization and similarly cases against the sitting ministers are stalled by way of Hon'ble High Court stay orders in "State Accountability Commission" having no persuasion from the government as on date. Recent corruption related exposures of sitting ministers and eyewash enquiries against them have certainly shaken the faith of a common man towards the prevailing so-called democratic system, the statement said further adding, "similarly influential bureaucrats involved in PHE scams, Gulmarg state land scam etc. are either recently retired or enjoying key postings as on date. In the end, PAPA stated that organization urged before the dignitaries at the helm of affairs is to prepare themselves for realizing the ground realities and facing the truth in a brave manner for a meaningful and purposeful advancement. |
