| Vigilant officials: SKIMS management find out 15 year old store | | Building material worth lakhs remain unnoticed | | Srinagar | Jan 18 A bizarre instance, demonstrating how government agencies waste public resources came to light today when management of SKIMS incidentally find out building material and machinery worth lacks of rupees laying un noticed for last fifteen years in a room of the basement of the Hospital complex. Informed Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that the management came to know about the store when it was looking for a room to shift the record from another room which was to be renovated. “on noticing a looked room in basement , the SKIMS Superintending Engineer along with other officials tried to open to for shifting the record, but could not get the key of the rusted lock put on the door” sources said adding, “ however later the lock was broken”. To the utter surprise of the officials the room was full of building material and machinery worth lakhs of rupees, sources said. However, it was found that major portion of the material dumped in the room was decayed which indicated that it was laying there for last several years. Soon after the officials found the building material, they reported the matter to higher authorities, sources added. The sources said that the preliminary investigation has revealed that the material was stored in the room fifteen years back when the charge of the store was with a Kashmiri Pandit employee who later migrated from the valley. The store, sources said remained unnoticed all these years because there was no record of the material kept in the room with the hospital authorities or engineering wing of the institute. When contacted director SKIMS, told News Agency of Kashmir that a he has constituted a team which will inquire into the matter.
