DC discusses Maha Shivratri arrangements | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb15: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma today took stock of the arrangements on Maha Shivratri celebrations and reviewed plans for the smooth conduct of Jhankis within Jammu city. The meeting was attended by district administration officers and representatives of various religious organizations. On the occasion, officers of various departments were directed to ensure all necessary arrangements are put in place, adding that there should be no shortage of essential commodities. He asked Health Department to provide ambulances to accompany the Jhanki/procession which will pass through different bazaars of the city. PDD was directed to ensure un-interrupted power supply during the festival days. JMC was assigned the task of cleanliness and sanitation at the main temples likely to be thronged by the devotees and enroute. Arrangements with regard to traffic, security, barricading and along the procession route were also reviewed. Representatives of local religious organizations also putforth their various demands. Verma called upon the organisers to ask their volunteers to regulate the entry of devotees in the temples and also keep close watch during the procession. The meeting was told that the Shiv Sevaks with the active participation of Scouts and Guides besides various students of different schools will organize a Jhanki/procession consisting of 31 Jhankis on February 18. |
