Rs 2700 recovered from smokers in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 15 : On the instructions of Assistant Controller Drug and Food Control Organization, Srinagar, Abdul Hamid Dar, the anti tobacco squad caught 26 persons smoking in public places in Srinagar and a fine of Rs 2700 was recovered from them.
The squad headed by Shabir Ahmed Lone, Food Safety Officer inspected offices of Horticulture Department, Engineering Complex, Pollution Control Board, G B Panth hospital, LD hospital, Chest Diseases hospital Dalgate and Old Secretariat.
The squad appreciated that Pollution Control Board had displayed anti-tobacco signages in all rooms and Public places within their complex and no one was found smoking there. The squad expressed hoped that other Heads of offices would also put up anti-tobacco signages within their offices and disallow smoking in public places.
