CPO hails DDC, Jammu for fixing bricks' rates | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: Consumer Protection Organisation (CPO) has hailed the steps taken by District Development Commissioner (DDC), Jammu to regulate the rates of bricks as per the suggestions made by CPO. In a meeting of the Organisation held here today under the chairmanship of its president DR Danish, the members appreciated the actions taken by DDC Jammu to fix the rates of bricks which in turn would help the consumers which were excessively charged by brick kiln owners. To give awareness to the consumers the revised rates fixed by DDC Jammu for bricks as already issued vide his order No 2 of DCJ of 2012 Dated 1-02-2012 in which the rates for B grade bricks is Rs 3400 per thousand with size of 22.86, 11.43 and 7.62 cms while for C Grade Bricks Rs 2970 per thousand with a size of 8% up or down mentioned for B Grade bricks above. The meeting was informed that the DDC Jammu had taken pains to take expert advise by holding several joint meetings with various experts in this field for fixing of rates. It is pertinent to note that DDC Jammu has given directions to all the Brick Kiln owners to display the rates in Bold letters in their Kilns class wise. They shall also mention the name of the buyers in the sale bills. A strict instruction has been issued to brick kiln owners to adhere to the directions issued by him and if found violating the above conditions they are liable to be punished and their licenses would be cancelled. As such consumers are advised by CPO to stick to the directions given by DDC so that they are not looted. |
