Refresher course in Life Sciences begins at JU | | | JAMMU, Feb 15: Academic Staff College (ASC), University of Jammu organized three week long Refresher Course in Life Sciences (Botany & Zoology) in collaboration with Department of Botany. Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof M P Singh Ishar was the chief Guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that UGC planned Refresher courses have proved very fruitful to the teachers for upgrading their knowledge and skills and deliver the same in their respective fields. He further said that in India teaching of Science need to be modernized and Curriculums are designed in such a way that we leave little for students to discover. Time has arrived that we create quest in the subject that may lead to creativity and are able to relate to the surroundings. Prof Geeta Sumbali, Head, Department of Botany in her welcome address dwelt in detail about the coordinated efforts of Academic Staff College and also thanked the organizers for providing a platform with competent resource persons. Prof Neelam Saraf, Director, Academic Staff College highlighted the objectives of the refresher course in which 25 teachers from within and outside states like Punjab, Assam, and Maharashtra are participating . Prof Anima Langer, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences in her address highlighted the achievements of the department in terms of publications, teaching methodology and infrastructure developments. Ranjit Kalra, Asstt. Director, Academic Staff College presented formal vote of thanks. |
