3 members of a family buried alive in snow storm in Kishtwar | Angry passengers appeal govt to airlift them | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb15: Three members of a family were buried alive in snow storm in remote Kishtwar district of Jammu division early Wednesday morning. According to police, snow storm struck Pallerdool area of Kishtwar early Wedn-esday morning around 5.30 am in which three members of a family were buried alive. According to preliminary reports the head of the family has been identified as Suleman. His wife and minor daughter were among those buried in the snow storm. Meanwhile, several hundred passengers remain stranded in Jammu due to inclement weather conditions and disruption of passenger traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. Large number of people awaiting green signal from the traffic police authorities to proceed towards their destinations Wednesday once again urged the state government to organise special air sorties to clear the rush of stranded passengers. Angry passengers at the bus station vent their ire against the poor arrangements made by the state government for them. Mohd Sarfraz Khan, resident of Ganderbal stranded in Jammu said, "I am desperate to go home. My father has expired and unfortunately I am stranded here due to bad weather conditions." He appealed to the state government authorities to organise air lifting at the earliest to clear the rush of passengers. Several other Kashmir bound passengers are growing restive with each passing hour as they have no where to go. We are spending long wintry nights braving harsh weather conditions at the bus stand we have no extra money to spend on hotel rents, the state govt is only making tall claims and doing very little on the ground to rescue stranded passengers. |
