MHA to monitor 'time bound' implementation, second component of employment package by Mar end | Thrust on relief amount enhancement | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 15: Notwithstanding the tall claims of the coalition government in the state, the Centre has showed concern over slow pace and sluggish implementation of the Prime Minister's package for Kashmiri Pandits in J&K including second component of the employment package which has yet to take off. PMO which has been taking care of the package has asked the MHA to monitor and ensure effective and time bound implementation of all aspects of the package for dignified life and environment for the families living in the camps and Jagti township. The J&K government has been asked to clear the second component of the employment package by the end of March this year. Sources said having taken strong notice of sluggish implementation of the PM's package, the Union government has desired the execution of works and measures envisaged under the package be regularly monitored by the officials in the Home Affairs Department. Sources said the Centre wants concerned quarters in the state be directed and instructed that whatever remains to be done in Jagti township to rehabilitate and provide all the amenities of decent habitation including the schooling and medicare infrastructure within the satellite township. The Centre wants state government to take such steps immediately which shall make the families feel that they are living in habitable environment, sources said. The move of asking MHA for monitoring of PM's package for migrants has come after consistent efforts of some leaders within the Congress party in New Delhi with concerned quarters in ensuring benefits be given to the community in a time bound manner without uncalled for hurdles and hiccups at any level. The emphasis has also been on enhancement of the monthly relief amount being given to the families from existing paltry amount of Rs 5000 by at least Rs 10000. "Our argument in pushing this forward with Centre is that in the present difficult times it is hard for any family to survive with this small amount and meet all expenditures…….so we have asked it to increase by not less than Rs 10,000 so that it touches at least Rs 15000 per month", said Ashok Bhan who is learnt to have held a couple of a meetings with some senior officials in MHA where this demand was in focus sought to a addressed on priority basis. "It is something beyond reason that KPs are asking for….in the backdrop of price rise what families get is just peanuts…….the GOI has to take care of all these things as the community has paid a huge price suffered a lot over the last two decades", Ashok Bhan. Besides , the state government has been asked to ensure distribution of scholarships and some schemes which Ministry of HRD and MHA has specially earmarked for the meritorious students in J&K. It has been asked to facilitate and take requisite steps so that the benefits are not only accrued by the students of migrants but also the deserving students from entire state as per its provisions. New Delhi doesn't want the scholarship schemes to get wasted on account of administrative delay or any other lapse at the state level, sources said. |
