Axe to fall on senior Govt officials | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 15: Axe is likely to fall on over 15 senior Government officials after the standing committee, constituted for recommending action against the corrupt and deadwood completed its exercise on examining the reports that it had received from the departmental heads. Official sources, while commenting on the allegations that poor and junior employees had been given premature retirement on the recommendations of the standing committee headed by the Chief Secretary, said that a list was being finalized by the committee which was likely to recommend action against 15 senior officers. Sources said that the list may include more officers as reports from the Departmental heads continue to pour in indicating that these officials had committed irregularities and had indulged in some corrupt practices. Sources indicated that the list may include some executive engineers, senior officers in the Revenue Departments at the state and the district level. They said that the programme of identifying the corrupt and the deadwood would continue. They said that the next list was likely to be released after the end of the budget session of the state legislature. The sources explained that the standing committee has instructed the departmental heads to be very careful during the screening process so that there was no lapse committed while recommending action against the deadwood. This was necessary so that those put on per-mature retirement list had no reason to knock the doors of the courts. |
