Himalayan College organises seminar on Relevance of Gandhi | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Feb 15: Himalayan College of Education Rajouri in collaboration with Gandhian centre for Peace and conflict studies organized one day seminar on relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in the 21st century. Dr Anurag Gangal Director Gandhian Centre for Peace and conflict studies University of Jammu was the Chief Guest and the key speaker on the occasion. He highlighted the importance of the principles of Mahatma Gandhi including Simplicity, peace, Truth, Non-Violence and Universal Brotherhood in the present age. He believed in this age of terrorism, mistrust, global warming, uncontrolled industrial growth Gandhi philosophy and practical approach has much to offer for the amelioration of these problems. He further stressed that peace can never be achieved through violent means. Tolerance and mutual respect are the prerequisite for a peaceful society which ensures progress and prosperity in the real sense. A half an hour documentary on Mahatmas life was also screened. A great number of students , teachers and the emancipated gentry of Rajouri witnessed this grand event. Three students of Himalayan College also presented a paper on the topic. Three prominent peace activists of the area including Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Shafqat Mir and. Talib Malik were presented mementos as a mark of recognition of their outstanding contribution to maintain peace during the times of crises in the area. Farooq Muztar founder patron of Himalayan Education Mission Society and Rahil Lone coordinator of the event was also present on the occasion. Saima Bano conducted the proceeding of Dias where as Muslim Wani Managing Director presented the vote of thanks besides projecting the road map for future endeavours of the Institute. |
