Tap potential in housing sector: Dy CM to HB | | | early times report JAMMU, Feb 15: Pointing towards vast potential in housing sector, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand directed housing board to tap the opportunity to the most and develop commercially viable projects in order to provide better urban spaces to the people. He said housing is an integral part of overall infrastructure and the board has to play prominent role in reviving housing infrastructure in the state. Tara Chand was addressing board of directors meeting of the Housing Board, here today. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Home, Tourism and Revenue and Relief Nasir Aslam Wani was present during the meeting. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Planning & Development B.B. Vyas, Principal Secretary, PWD K.B. Agarwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Managing Director, Housing Board Dalip Thusoo and other senior officers. Underlining importance of developing projects for all strata of the society, the Deputy Chief Minister said board must aim at providing affordable housing to all and keeping in view the market demand, should come up with projects of housing and commercial spaces. Detailed review of activities of housing board was taken in the meeting and directions were issued for judicious utilization of resources for efficient management of the board activities. While reviewing projects of the board, Nasir Wani said besides providing viable housing facilities to the people, board should also utilize its technical expertise and focus on undertaking infrastructure development projects which can go a long way in establishing the board as an efficient urban restructuring agency.
