Div Com discusses expansion of Jammu Airport | | | early times report JAMMU, Feb 15 : Underlining the need for early upgrading and expansion of Runway of Jammu airport, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal who chaired a high level meeting on Wednesday directed concerned departments to expedite the ground work so that the expansion of Jammu airport and shifting of utilities begins soon. The meeting was informed that the exercise of getting clearances from various State and Central agencies for the expansion of Jammu Airport has finally come to an end with Supreme Court of India putting a seal of approval on the documents seeking permission to change the use of Wildlife Department land at Sunjwan in the outskirts of Jammu for transferring the same to Army in lieu of the land adjoining the airport, which is presently housing several utilities of the Army and will be used for the expansion of airport. Detailed discussion was held regarding the expansion of Jammu Airport and issues impeding the expansion besides shifting of utilities. The Divisional Commissioner stressed that the various agencies involved in the project should synchronise their working so that bottlenecks can be removed for timely completion of the project.
