Harsh alleges paralysis of politico-constistutional system in the state

early times report
JAMMU, Feb 15 : Alleging a total paralysis of the politico-constitutional system in the state, Harsh Dev Singh National Panthers Party (NPP) MLA and its working chairman mocked that the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah infact, deserved all pity and commiseration for having been constrained to take over the charge of one dozen odd govt Deptts by default.
He said there were genuine and reasons to believe that in due course of time some more govt Deptts were likely to fall into the lap of the Chief Minister.
Referring to the bundle of ministries held by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Harsh Dev satirically said, "Chief Minister deserved complements for holding the highest number of portfolios ever held by any Chief Minister during the last four decades.
He regretted that non allocation of Deptts only indicated the Chief Minister's dilemma in the wake of total bankruptcy of the coalition members and his lack of trust in the coalition partners.
NPP leaders said with the Chief Minister having lost faith in his Partners and the public having lost confidence in the present dispensation, it was high time for the present council of Ministers to relinquish office and to seek fresh mandate from the public.
He also regretted that the political apparatus of the ruling coalition had crumbled, the 'collision (Coalition) partners' had caused a complete erosion of govt's authority with the development machinery, too, having come to a grinding halt.
He said the coalition government had totally failed on all fronts with its political credibility being at the lowest ebb.
Singh also ridiculed in particular the recent episode in which a Minister was earlier forced to resign due to adverse findings against him by the Crime Branch, but subsequently the govt. had to eat a humble pie, succumbed to the pressure, stepped back from its stand by allowing the Minister to continue in the Cabinet.
"High drama enacted in the beginning over Ministers sacking and the much publicized enquiry ordered by the Chief Minister turned out to be a damp squib, he added.
He said this indicated not only the imbecility of the helmsmen but also their utter helplessness in the wake of an all powerful mafia ruling the roost.
He said that the latest developments wherein, the mighty and powerful were rewarded and the lesser officials and weaklings were penalized, had given rise to a new political discourse and a new meaning to political probity and morality.
