MIER organise ‘Meet the Alumini

Jammu, Feb 16: The Alumni Committee of MIER College of Education organised an interactive session under the series 'Meet the Alumni' with the objective of acquainting the students with the rich heritage of the college.
J.N. Baliya, Associate Professor P.G Department of Education, University of Jammu and Mamta Chopra, Headmistress K.C. International School, Jammu were invited as the illustrious alumni of the college on this occasion.
Other distinguished guests present on the occasion were Renu Gupta, Director MIER, Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, B.L. Raina HOD M.Ed. Deptt. , Surinder Kour, Controller Examinations and Shashi Koul, Convener Alumni Committee.
Adit Gupta formally welcomed the alumni and highlighted their achievements in the field of education. He informed the audience that Mamta Chopra was a student of the first batch of B. Ed trainees and also worked in the school wing of the institute as an English teacher.
He also extended a warm welcome to J. N. Baliya who is a well know figure in the educational field.
He has greatly contributed to the growth and development of educational research in the region. Baliya apart from being a student of the college also worked as a lecturer at MIER College and also served in the school wing as its Principal.
Chopra and Baliya then addressed the gathering and expressed their gratitude to the institution to which they owed everything. They profusely thanked their teachers Arun K. Gupta, Renu Gupta, Surinder Kour and Ira Bhan who helped them to achieve such high positions in life.
Sharing their experiences with the teacher trainees, they emphasized that the institution has supported them in all their endeavours and motivated them to imbibe the moral values, quest for learning and sense of duty towards their profession. Renu Gupta, Director MIER and Principal MIER College of Education thanked the distinguished alumni for sparing their valuable time to visit their alma mater. She opined that it is because of good teachers, good students and most of all its illustrious alumni that MIER College gets to be recognized as an institution of excellence.
She also recollected her fond memories with the two guests who had been multifaceted and outstanding students of the institute. She appreciated the efforts of the Alumni Committee for initiating such an interactive session and bringing the alumni close to their alma mater. This was followed by a lively interactive session with the students in which the students freely interacted with the esteemed guests.
The programme culminated with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Shashi Kaul, convener Alumni and Placement Committee.
Mementos were also presented to the guest as a token of appreciation. Vishali Razdan, lecturer B. Ed Deptt, conducted the programme.
