Former minister's son duped of crores, cheat arrested from Mumbai | | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Feb 16: Gandhi Nagar police arrested a Haryana based cheat who swindled crores of rupees from doctor, Pawan Mattoo son of former minister Raman Mattoo of Gandhi Nagar from Mumbai while manhunt is on to arrest a Bishnah based youth, allegedly involved in the cheating case. Meanwhile, police arrested a retired Grade one officer of Jammu and Kashmir Art, Culture and Languages for assaulting the employee of Khadi Gram Udyog. According sources the doctor son of former minister was duped by cheat in the pretext of establishing a industrial unit at Bishnah area in Jammu province. The cheat identified as Sanjeev Nayer son of Kewal Krishan of Bilaspur, Haryana was arrested when he was about to sell the property of former minister in Mumbai. The cheating racket was busted when some complaints were registered with the police by aggrieved people alleging there in that they were duped of lakhs of rupees by some cheats in pretext of providing visas of foreign countries to them. "While investigation on the part of police was in progress, a similar complaint was also lodged with police by family of former minister. On the basis of complaints a police team under the supervision of SSP Jammu Prabat Singh was dispatched to Mumbai where the cheat was arrested in his hide out House No 155, near Movie Tower, Ashirwara Mumbai, sources said. The arrested cheat was most wanted by Chandigarh Police as he was involved in 16 cases of extortion and duping cases. During preliminary questioning the accused revealed that he took blank cheques from Pawan Mattoo and some documents of Mumbai based property to be sold in lieu of establishing a factory at Bishnah. A case under section 420, 467, 468, 34 RPC has been registered against the accused. The interrogation of the accused was in progress and more arrests are likely. Meantime the Gandhinagr Police arrested one retired officer JKACL identified as O P Sharma when he assaulted Anil Kumar in the office premises of Khadi Gram Udyog at Shatri Nagar. A case under section 332 RPC stood registered against him. |
