| Culture is sumtotal of habits, traits, rituals, customs, symbols and institutions of a society and above all the way they think and feel. Infact no society can think of its existance without culture and the people losing culture lose everything with the passage of time.People are identified with their culture so the culture gives a sense of belongness and identity to people.
Our country remained under foreign rule for many years and it was during the period that our cultural detriortation started. Whatever was best in us was ridiculed by the outsiders.They termed us as uncivilised and most backward people and made all attempts to made us lose our identy.They missed no opportunity to impose their culture on us ,which they thought was the best.The english regard it their duty to make the whole world civilised terming it as WHITE MEN BURDEN. During the colonial rule of britishers indians suffered heavily.They were made to think them as inferior.Various blind faiths and supper-stitions which had grown in indian society in a period of time boo-sted the efforts of britishers. A numbers of movements were started in the 17th and 18th century by great social reformers of the country like Raja Ram Mohanroy, Ram-krishana Parmehans, Swami Dayanand Sarsvati and Swami-viveka-nanda. These movements aimed at endind blindfaiths and saving the country from the evil effects of westernisation. The movements succeded a lot in regaing indias rich cultural legacy. Throughout their rule the britishers tried hard to spread english system of knowledge, ideas and thoughts in the country. As a result of this we became ignorant about our culture, beliefs and languages. We imitated them badly wihout give a critical thought to what they werw preaching and propogating. They left our territory in 1947 but are still dominating our minds even in the 21th century.
What are the effects of blind westernisation on our cuntry. we have lost our character,like them we are madly running after money and sensual pleasures. Our culture was based on spirtualism theirs is based on materialism. Still we are after them. Our youth getting education which sans cultural and moral touth. They have developed a habit of condemning our values and supporting wester-nisation. Its a self centred approach they are following. These all things are going to make us a slave of western world.
