Unemployment is one of the biggest threats which our nation is facing today. And if this formidable issue is not addressed seriously and inclining rate not arrested in coming few days then equally days are not far off ,when this monstrous problem is going to generate more problems in the near future for all of us. There is no doubt that about sincere endeavours which have been made so far by the successive regimes both at the central and the state levels but despite all doing that ,when we look around ,we find situation quite horrible . Various schemes like PMGSY,MNERGA,NREGA ,IGRY etc .have been floated by the central government to provide the minimum guaranteed employment days ranging between 100 to 120 days to keep the rural folk especially remain engaged in their off season activities to sustain their livelihood and remain secure but majority of these schemes cover the unskilled labour and it is pitiable to mention that such a weak tendency has grown among the modern youth that those once seek the benefits of 3R'S i.e Reading, Writing and Arithmetic ability ,they instead of lending shoulders to their parents love to sit idle than bearing the onus of the family and share hands with the parents in their domestic chores. Gone are the days when rural children used to carry sickle and rush in the green pastures to collect fodder for their livestock but the emerging scenario is different one comparably to the one a few decades ago. This is truly a sordid affair. Since the town planning in the rural regions is not up to the standard with the limited option to hone their talents and gain skills apart shattered marketing system and medical infrastructure ,poor road connectivity's ,ill devised sheltered houses ,poor drinking facilities ,unhygienic sewerages ,no parking facilities ,non availability of playgrounds etc ,the youth of today is left with no option except to rush to the cities to flood the city with more crowd to cause imbalance in the existing situations . But in the cities ,on failing to the meet the challenges of the life due to the soaring competition level ,the same youth grows more topsy- turvy and in the event of failure ,his helplessness is either exploited badly or forced to do unlawful activities ,the outcomes of which are beyond repairs after once they attain the acme. In order to overcome the desperation , they start indulging in unlawful activities and some start taking drugs to forget their itching pains. They do not pause to think of the cost of that act that causes them this happiness and grandiosity, of the anxiety their loved would feel and of course of the problems that to an accidental overdose could result in. Hence to curb this ever increasing threat, there is dire necessity to shift our focus to the upliftment of our rural areas so that urban lust could be curbed among the youth of the rural areas. The Indian economy is based on the mixed economy largely depending on the labour intensive availability in the rural areas where around 3/4th of population resides and whose services could be utilised owing to free farming period for 4-5 months in a year. Since with every passing year, our educational institutes are churning out educated youth in lacs but to the utter dismay when such a lot faces the reality of life outside their academic pool , they find themselves groping in the era of darkness and feel dejected on staring the face of unemployment . Sometimes their stress level goes beyond their bearable heights and this leads them to the state of depression to commit suicide . But this crop cannot be allowed to go waste as they are the future citizens who have to shoulder the burden of this nation. In order to overcome this unemployment malaise ,urgent need of the hour is to focus our prime interest in setting up more vocational institutes and ITI'S in the rural areas which could lend knowledge to the young educational aspirants in the field of Auto mobile industry, Computer Hardware, Draftsman ,Drawing and Interior designing, Electronics mechanic ,Carpentry, Tailoring, Marketing expertise ,localised industralised products etc which prove handy in our day to day usage and earn livelihood . The more opening of such type of institutes would enable the rural students to remain in the rural region and further they will be able to earn while learn without brain drain. Mere catering of the academic knowledge to the new breed of students is not going to satiate their hunger and lessen the poverty rate. The time has come to emphasise for dissemination of the knowledge primarily based on the localised availability of the infrastructure and raw products to develop things based on the need of the market rather than exerting for the exporting of the products. Also there is hundred of the other petty works in which if we train our younger crop, the knowledge of that could prove healthy in building the local markets and earn their employment gains rather than going to cities with the begging bowls and face starvation over there. If in countries like Japan and Korea , a school going children of below the age of 12 can earn while learn than why not ours. But what is desired is the sound monitoring and effective mechanism in dealing with the problem .We are opening every year new academic institutes at the different levels of the educational strata which is undeniably a welcome move but mere academics in the absence of skilful knowledge is not going to serve our purpose of consolidating the strength. The cart will remain in the mud. It needs to be dragged out of that mess to make it more effective part of the Indian economic system so that the amount we spent on the rehabilitation of the unemployed youth will have not to be diverted for this purpose and this economy pool could be used in the healthy growth and development of this nation by taking up the other urgent issues to raise the stature of the countrymen . |
