| 18 tobacco vendors fined | | | early times report
JAMMU, Feb 17: A team comprising of Food Safety Officers and Drug Inspectors of Drugs & Food Control Organization, J&K conducted a special drive for securing compliance of Section 6(b) of the Cigarette and other tobacco products (Prohibition of advertisement and regulation of trade and commerce, production, supply and Distribution) Act, 2003. The above section prohibits sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products within a radius of 100 yards of any educational institution.
Eighteen tobacco vendors were fined and an amount of Rs/- 1740 was realized from the offenders.
The team also carried out simultaneous mapping of vendors and also laid stress on generating awareness regarding other provisions of the aforesaid Act and Rules among the various stake holders as part of drive. |
