CBI traps Postal Dept employees for taking graft | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 17: Intensifying its drive against corrupt public servants in Jammu region, Anti Corruption Branch of CBI, Jammu today arrested two Mail Oversears of Postal Department in Rajouri this afternoon. Accused Khadim Hussain and Rajinder Prasad, both Mail Overseers, Post Office Rajouri, were caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from complainant Amar Singh, a daily wager with postal department as a motive for not taking action against him for delay in dispatch of dak. A complaint was lodged with CBI which laid a trap and caught both mail overseers red handed while accepting bribe in presence of independent witnesses. Regular Case has been registered under relevant sections of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act against them. The accused will be produced before the Court of Learned Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu tomorrow for remand. Till late evening CBI team had not returned to the office. It is as a result of intensified vigilance and anti corruption campaign that complainants have started turning up at CBI Office at Panama Chowk, Railhead Complex Jammu to lodge their complaints against corrupt officials. The CBI Jammu Branch has trapped and arrested five public servants in Jammu region in the last three months. These include officers of the rank of Colonel, Executive Engineer (GREF) and a branch manager of a nationalised bank.
