PAPA for more teeth to RTI movement | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 17: Peoples Action and Public Accountability (PAPA) J&K Chapter has expressed concerns over the demoralizing attitude of the coalition government to the Right to Information Act despite powers vested to the Commission as state government and its agencies for a proper implementation on ground which seems total helpless. According to the PAPA spokesperson, Right to Information Act is no doubt a decent piece of legislation but despite of powers vested to the Comm-ission but it needs an extra support of the state government and its agencies for a proper implementation on ground. the statement added that Public Service Guarantee Act is concerned the provisions laid down in the Act seem insufficient to address the grievances of masses as after a due course of action of more than three months, merely fine of Rs. 5000/- is fixed against the defaulters instead at least one month salary of the concerned officer or employee needs to be paid to the complainant. PAPA further urged to Chief Minister for an aggressive war to curb the corrupt the only option with him as a long term and effective politics. |
