NC-Cong ignorant towards SCs, STs : BJP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 17: How serious and committed the present NC-Congress coalition has been towards the welfare and upliftment of the SCs and STs in the state is clear from the fact that it has failed to prepare and submit the sub plans for these communities to the Planning Commission of India in time. This was alleged by BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas while expressing party's concern over the reports of delay in submitting the report as demanded by Planning Commission. Shams her Singh Manhas said that the reported failure of the Omar Abdullah led government to forward to the centre the sub-plans for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled living in Jammu and Kashmir speaks of its attitude and callous approach towards these communities, which constitute a major portion of the population of state. He said the most unfortunate part of the whole issue is that all these things have been happening in the state at a time when the deputy Chief Minister himself belongs to the SC community. Not only this, the state Cabinet has also ministers who represent the constituencies which represent the ST majority areas. This latest incident should leave no one in any doubt that the NC-Congress coalition has any pain or concern for SCs and STs, like other sections of the society, Manhas said and added that the main reason for the backwardness and lack in proper upliftment of these communities has been the least concern by the successive government towards them and the present coalition has even gone more ahead in devoting time to think for the ways and means to benefit the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. |
