Fresh snowfall in upper reachs; Pahalgam, Gulmarg colder than Leh | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 17 : World famous ski resort of Gulmarg and other heights experienced fresh snowfall in the Kashmir valley, where a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) was approaching the region. A Met department spokesman today said light rain or snow would occur at isolated places during the next 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir, where Pahalgam and Gulmarg were colder than Leh and Kargil in Ladakh region. Fresh snowfall was experienced on the ski slopes, which are already under more than five feet of snow, a hotel owner told UNI over phone from Gulmarg, where the minimum remained below 13 degrees Celsius today. He said after cloudy weather during the day, it started snowing last evening and continued for an hour, much to the delight of tourists, some of them had first experience to see snowfall. Moderate to heavy snowfall was also recorded in other heights of the sector, including Affarwat, Kongdori and Khilanmarg, he said. Today the sky was cloudy but there was no snowfall, he said. Light to moderate snowfall was recorded at other heights in the north Kashmir, including Keran, Karnah, Machil and Razdan and Sadhna passes. |
