Maha Shivratri Mela at Dalser on Feb 20 | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Feb 17:As usual, one day Maha Shivratri Mela will be held at historic Shiv temple Dalser in Ram nagar tehsil of the Udhampur district on February 20, 2012 on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. This historic temple is situated just 3 kms away from Ramnagar on Ramnagar Budhole road and is famous not only in the Udhampur district but all over the Jammu province because natural Shiv Lingam which exists in the temple situated in village Dalser has its own significance because the Shiv Langam existing in the temple changes its colour thrice a day and the devotees can see nose, ear, eyes and forehead which are quite visible on the Shiv Lingam. As per the past history, this village was known as Dalashwar but with the passage of time, this village is now known as Dalser. Thousands of devotees visits this temple throughout the year and get blessings of Lord Shiva. Shivsar Lake spread over vast area near the temple is another famous view of the village which also attracts thousands of devotees to take holy dip in the Shivsar Lake. As per the past history, about 108 bowlies exists around the temple and it is said that most of the bowlies were dried up because of heavy earth quake during the past time but number of bowlies are still existing and sweet and cool water flows from them. Number of social organization and local Management Committee would arrange free langers for the visiting devotees on the occasion of Mahga Shivratri. Thousands of devotees from all walks of life from different places of the Jammu province are expected to participate in this mela on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. |
