Despite court orders KVIB aspirants pestering for job since '09 | | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Feb 17: The aspiring candidates for various posts of Khadi Village Industries Board (KVIB) who have been running from pillar to post for the last three years to get the final selection list publicly for which interview were held in the year of Jan 2009 finally took refuge of RTI Act which raised eyebrows on the transparency of the selection procedure. Despondency housed among the candidates interviewed in 2009 after they received response of RTI application, filed to KVIB to know the status of the selection list of assistant Executive Officer, Assistant Registrar, Accounts Assistant, Driver, Field Man and Orderlies. Responding to RTI application vide No 614/PS/I&C, the department stated that the awards of the duly constituted interview committee are lying in sealed covers and the final select list on the basis of academic merit and interview score has not been prepared as yet as the decision for the same is awaited from the Hon'ble Minister of Commerce and Industries, who happens to be the chairman of the KVIB. In the response It is stated that the interviews for the post of drivers were not held due to the inclement weather condition. It is again stated that file was again resubmitted to the Chairman KVIB through Administrative Department for approval, but this time the latter directed that that some legal implications are involved in the case, the issue may be kept pending. The aspirants for various posts stated they also had took their case to J&K High Court and in a verdict vide CMP NO, 1738/2009 SWP No: Case ,court has given clear cut instructions to the department and Chairman to make the list public through newspapers. However, in reply, secretary KVIB wrote to the chairman that there was no legal issue in their finalization adding large number of candidates, who had appeared in their interviews are making enquires regarding fate of the interviews held, either on telephone or by visiting the offices of KVIB both at Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier the selection list was stayed by temporary employees with the plea that they would be made permanent but later the high court gave direction to the department twice to make the list public, on the basis of writs filed by two candidates Deepak Bogia and candidate Punit Kumar, however court referring to the case of Punit Kumar directed reservation of one post in SC category till final decision. "We are satisfied with the selection process of KVIB selection committee, but the adamancy on the part of minister smear foul smell", candidates waiting for result alleged. |
