JDA to develop new colonies on modern lines with specific provision for EWS: Dy CM | Press, legislature colonies to come up in Jammu | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 18 : To cater the demand of the people for housing colonies and complexes in the area, Jammu Development Authority would develop new housing projects at Muthi, Nagrota and Kot Jagir. The housing projects would be developed on most modern lines under mixed model and have flatted accommodations, plots and commercial spaces. The decision to this effect was taken at the 72nd Board of Directors meeting of the JDA, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, here today. "Need of the hour is to develop housing projects keeping in mind the requirements of all sections of the society and care should be taken that new projects specifically address housing needs of the economically weaker sections," Tara Chand remarked. Directing the authority to develop housing colonies on most modern lines, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the new colonies would follow mixed model and have provisions for high, middle and low income groups, adding that for the purpose proper demand survey needs to be done so that exact market requirements can be known and planning be done accordingly. Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Planning & Development B.B. Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner, JMC, S.C. Sahani, Vice-Chairperson, JDA Mrs. Sarita Chouhan and other senior officers from finance , town planning attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that JDA has identified forty kanals of land on Gajansoo road for establishing press colony in Jammu. The Board took the decision to send the proposal to Principal Secretary, Information for further deliberations with the stakeholders. "Government is committed to provide space to the Press fraternity for a colony We have given specific instructions to the authorities to fast track the matter so that long pending demand is addressed at the earliest," he added. For establishing legislature colony, land at Sidhra has been identified by the JDA. Detailed deliberations were held on the matter and the Board took the decision to submit the case to Secretary, Housing for taking up the matter with the concerned. Underscoring the need for developing an institutional area, the Deputy Chief Minister said possibilities need to be explored to identify specific area for institutional requirements. He said JDA is custodian of master plan and no violation with regard to it should be allowed. Threadbare discussions were also held on various issues confronting JDA and important decisions were taken with regard to allotment of additional land to IMPA, land to Auxiliary police for establishing housing facility, legal issues and other issues of importance. |
