JMC conducts drive against adulteration | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 18: Under instructions from Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu S C Sawheny, the Health Officer (designated officer) of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of Food Safety Officers conducted an extensive tour of Jammu city on the eve of Maha Shivratri festival in the areas of Bikram Chowk, Satwari, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himat, Kanji House, Raghunath Bazar, Shahidi Chowk, Residency Road, Railway Station, Trikuta Nagar etc to check the quality of commonly used food items especially milk and milk products and food served to the general public and inspected sweets / milk shops, dhabas, restaurants etc. During the inspection about 110 food establishments / vendors were checked and about 100 kgs of sub standard milk, 60 kgs of stale cooked food was destroyed on spot. An amount of Rs 4000 was also realized as fine from 14 defaulters during the drive. Besides this, all the food establishments owners including milk / halwai shopkeepers dealing in sale of fresh milk and packed milk, restaurant owners were asked to adhere to the terms & conditions of FSS Act, 2006 and keep their premises neat and clean for ensuring supply of pure and good quality of food items especially milk to the customers. All the business owners were also instructed not to use polythene carry bags which in long run are very injurious to health. The drive will continue and the general public is requested to co-operate with the Jammu Municipal Corporation to make ongoning drive a success. |
