Son of former MoS Home arrested for involvement in desecration of mosques

Police in Anantnag district arrested son of former Union Minister of State for Home in connection with his involvement in the recent desecration of mosques in Shangus area today. Talking to reporters, SSP Anantnag Ab Ghani Mir said the floor of a mosque was damaged during a mysterious fir that broke out in a mosque in the intervening night of January 2 and 3 at Chanderwudan Uttarsoo. However the locals took it as a mere incident and did not create any uproar over the incident. Regretting that people found some torn leaves of holly Quran and present the same before police, SSP said police registered a case under FIR.No:2/2007;U/S 295 RPC in this connection.
Recalling that keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue, a special team head by SHO Achabal was constituted to probe the matter, Ab Ghani further said in a very sorry state of affairs one more mosque was set on fire at Wukhal Bhalan, but locals and police avoided large scale damage to the mosque. Claiming the police questioned around twenty people in this connection, SSP said during the course of investigation police found clues about the involvement of Gowhar Maqbool Dar S/O Mohd Maqbool Dar, former Union Minister of State for Home, in all these incidents.
Claiming that Gowhar Maqbool Dar during the course of interrogation confessed his involvement in these incident, SSP said Gowhar Maqbool Dar has also confessed his involvement in stealing of fire crackers, biscuits and sweets during a burglary attempt in the shop of one Ab Rashid Bhat S/O Mohd Akbar at Utrasoo, stealing of a tape recorder from TATA Mobile vehicle of Mohd Afzal Dar R/O Nowgam bearing no:JK 03/4865, looting of cash from a locker of a holly shrine and throwing of torn peaces of a holly Quran in a Nallah.
Claiming that some stolen goods were recovered on the identification of Gowhar Maqbool Dar, SSP also claimed the recovery of a Kerosene pot and a hammer from Dar which he was using in carrying out burglary attempts. Claiming further that Gowhar Maqbool Dar is also a drug addict youth and is solely responsible for involvement in burglary attempts and other unethical social crimes. However he denied the speculations that Gowhar Maqbool Dar was acting at the behest of any one else in carrying out such nefarious activities.
