BJP-Panthers to raise ‘Delimitation, discrimination' issues in assembly | | | early times report Jammu, Feb 18: Apart from various scams and the mystery behind the death of one NC worker, Haji Mohd.Yousuf, the Jammu centric members of the state legislature have plans of raising discrimination and delimitation issues during the budget session of the Assembly, beginning from February 23 in the state's winter capital. High placed sources within the two political parties informed that members of the BJP and the Panthers Party have chalked out a strategy to confront the Government with series of instances that have perpetuated the level of raw deal to the people of the Jammu region. Apart from the discrimination of the Jammuites in the share in Government jobs the opposition members have prepared a list of various development schemes, including conservation of water bodies and building of roads and centrally sponsored schemes includes PMGSY, in order to convey their anger against prolonged discrimination of the people of the Jammu region. Sources said that other issues to be raised include the action the Government has taken on senior functionaries of the state Board of School Education who have been involved in helping the foster son of Peerzada Mohd.Syeed to clear the 10th class examination. Besides this the opposition members have also decided to put up a tough fight in case the Finance Minister, A.R Rather, proposed heavy taxes in his budget proposals. Alleged misappropriation of Government funds, nonperformance of the ruling coalition in various field of activities, growing corruption and Government's inability to promote the process of dialogue with separatists and for ending human rights violations are other issues that may dominate debate and discussion on the floor of the Assembly |
