Soz asks party men to gear up for Municipal polls | | | early times report Srinagar, Febuary 19, (KNS); Asking his partymen to get ready for the Muncipal Polls, Congress State Chief Prof. Saifuddin Soz-MP on sunday urged them to gear up their activities and establish mass contact in their respective areas to ensure the victory of the party in the forthcoming elections to the Municipal bodies in the State. According to KNS addressing a massive rally at Dashera Ground-Gandhinagar Jammu in the wake of forthcoming elections to the urban bodies, the PCC Chief said that grass root workers and party functionaries in the Block and Districts are the backbone of the party and they should suggest to the party, the deserving, capable and honest persons who are popular among the people in their respective Wards for these elections, which are likely to be held soon. The rally was organised by Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla. Seeking un-seating of the erring BJP MLAs under anti-defection law, the PCC Chief lashed out at the BJP for its politics of divisiveness and hatred and said that the strength of the nation lies in the principle of " Unity in Diversity", where people are free to follow their own religion and faith but respect the faith of others also. He said that Congress is the only party in the Country and in this State which has its presence in all 6 Lacs villages in the Country. The people of all faiths and religions have faith of its policies, programmes and leadership. He disclosed that as per recommendations of Justice Sachar Committee appointed by the UPA Govt. headed by Dr. Manmohan Singh for the first time, 90 districts having pre-dominant muslim population have been selected for developmental thrust and other similar recommendations of committee are being implemented. He said that Eight out of the Nine Members in Sachar Committee were Hindus who made recommendations for the upliftment of the backward muslims and this fact establishes the secular character and strength of our nation. He said that a Convention of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes shall be organised soon in Jammu to highlight their problems and discuss various programmes aimed at their welfare Prof. Soz said that the Constitution of India is a complete social Bible which has enshrined the rights of every individual irrespective of his caste, creed, colour, religion or economic status. This is the essence of our democracy, he added.Prof Soz also praised the style of working and leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi and asked the youth to come forward to play their role in politics and service of people under the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi, whose style is democratic, transparent and strait- forward and wants to live a simple life. There is lot to learn from the style of working of Mr. Rahul Gandhi, who has made Youth Congress and NSUI democratic, transparent and disciplined in their functioning. Prof. Soz expressed concern over the ever-growing problem of urbanization due to migration of people from the villages towards cities mainly due to lack of proper adequate facilities of life in rural areas. He said that Mahatma Gandhi had late stressed for creating all sorts of facilities and developments in villages to check the movement of people towards cities. He said that this is the only way of dealing with this problem. He said that UPA Govt. led by Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is extending liberal financial supports to the State of Jammu and Kashmir to expedite the developmental activities in all parts of the State. The PCC Chief also asked the Youth to take benefit of the provisions of ' Right to Information' ((RTI) which is a tool given by Congress led UPA Govt. to expose corruption and bring transparency in the system. Addressing the Rally Raman Bhalla highlighted various developmental programmes launched in the Constituency and other areas and extended gratitude to the UPA Govt. for the liberal financial support to the State for carrying out massive developmental activities . He also thanked the PCC Chief for his efforts to strengthen the Congress party in all three regions of the State by promoting the policies and programmes of the Congress party and its leadership. The rally was also addressed by Senior Vice Presidents Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, Dharam Pal Sharma, Muzaffar Parrey, Ministers Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed, Taj Mohi-ud-din, Sham Lal Sharma, RS Chib and Shabir Ahmed Khan. |
