SRS concerned over govt's nonchalance towards Local Bodies elections | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 20: Shri Ram Sena Jammu-Kashmir has expressed concern over the government's non-seriousness towards holding the Local Bodies elections in the state. Shri Ram Sena state president Rajiv Mahajan said that while the Municipal elections are round the corner but the process of delimitation of Municipal wards is nowhere in sight. Mahajan said that government announced Municipal elections during April 2012 but the electoral rolls are still to be rectified which are full of mistakes. Many names of electors are missing from the electors rolls or their names mis-spelt, wrong date of birth entered and in many cases polling booths inter- mingled. Mahajan said there is lot of omissions which are required to be corrected. The delimitation of Municipal wards is still in the offing and revision of Elector Rolls after the delimitation process is time consuming task. Delimitation, Rotation of Male/Female reservation in wards is also time consuming and it will be difficult to complete it by April. Mahajan said it will be very unfair in view of ground realties to conduct Municipal elections within scheduled time without updating and correcting the Elector Rolls. Mahajan urged upon the Government to give due attention to the Revision of Elector Rolls and corrections in the existing Elector Rolls in view of short limited time. |
