| Govt has failed to address to the problem of poverty in border areas: Darakhshan | | SDP president addresses public rally in Border village of Akhnoor | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 20: After six days extensive tour of border villages in Akhnoor area by top rung SDP leaders, today the party held a public rally at border hamlet Pargwal in Nai Basti area of Akhnoor tehsil. SDP president Dr Darakhshan Andrabi travelled on foot in about a dozen villages and talked to the villagers about their problems. Later Dr Andrabi addressed the public gathering at Pargwal.
She was accompanied by the local part representative Subhash Baba, Sdp General Secretary Ajay Kumar, State youth SDP president Gursagar Singh and SDP Provincial President Sham Bhagat. In her address to the huge gathering SDP President said that the life of the people in these border hamlets is not better than hell. Despite being represented by very influential people in the government, the poor people have been taken far granted.
"Political gundaism has crushed the voice of the people in these areas.
The local authorities in lien with the politicians are looting the facilities meant for the poor people of these areas. The government schemes are executed on paper only and the people are deprived of their rights," said Darakhshan Andrabi.
She criticized the state education department of playing with the future of the children of these poor backward hamlets by allowing the mismanagement of government schools.
Dr Andrabi said that it was shameful to see that the computers gifted to government schools in the area are eating dust and accumulating rust as the school management doesn't want the children of these poor voiceless people to get benefited by these modern facilities.
She said that the newly appointed Panchs and Sarpanchs are used as tools by the political representatives of the area for establishing their rule of malpractices.
Dr Andrabi said that the season of the awakening has started in this area and she will make it a point that these poor innocent people are given their right to live a dignified and economically reliable life.
She appealed to the Army authorities to come out with some mega plans of reconstruction in the area under operation Sadhbhavana as at government level one can only expect the situation that these poor inhabitants are forced to live in.
She directed her party leadership to regularly stay in touch with the people and see that they are not cheated and looted and threatened by the politicians and local administration too. |
