Govt created extra-constitutional posts: Chaman | | | JAMMU, Feb 20: Former Union Minister Chaman Lal Gupta has said that the issuing of notices by the Accountability Commission has vindicated their assertion coalition government has created extra-constitutional posts. He said that elevation of non-elected people in the government is huge drain on the public exchequer. In a statement, Gupta hoped that in wake of observations of the commission many things would be cleared and the government would think twice before giving plump posts to their workers. He again demanded abrogation of Article 370 to ensure free flow of the Indian constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta alleged that many wrongs are being committed by taking advantage of the so called special status of the state which include a separate constitution. Gupta pointed out that under the Constitution of India there is a limit of having just 15 percent of the legislators for a Ministry, both at the Centre as also in the States, but in J&K this limit has been raised to 20 per cent. He said that it is matter of concern that several extra-constitutional posts have been created to please and appease certain elements at the cost of the exchequer which much relies upon the assistance from Centre. |
